Selling before
buying is that the right way forward ?
THE
CUNNING FOX - LEICESTER CITY WEBZINE - 26.06.2008
Three
of our best players last season are gone. Championship managers
are not stupid and the fact that City sell players for £ 1
million or more each, shows possibly how desperate MM is to
balance the books
We just
have to wait a couple of weeks before we know how Nigel Pearson
will make his moves in the transfer market and how he will
balance his squad.
But the fact that three of the best players last season leaves
makes TCF worried. Another fact is that we are battling for
players with Bradford !!!
Sources close to the club believes that in two weeks, Stephen
Clemence and Joe Mattock will be sold. Alan Sheehan has turned
down a contract offer from the club and will join Leeds United,
where he spent time on loan last season.
When a club sells players to get money to buy, then the plan of
a straight return to the Championship and a move for the Premier
League in the 09/10 season is fantasy.
We are today linked with Hartlepool defender Michael Nelson. A
player described by Hartlepool fans as number three in the
pecking order for two central defence positons.
Football is a simple game and we all know how Man City, Fulham
and Hull managed to get out of this division and up to the
Premier League.
They didn't sell their best players, they bought better players
for more money than their oppenents and they had clever managers
building a team on the best of the worst and with new faces,
paying them good salaries and at the same time paying big
transfer fees.
Of course it could be done another way, but it might take more
time, and with MM stressing his manager with straight promotions
it is not helping much.
Let's pray to God that this will go in the right direction, and
that Pearson and Mandaric don't believe in miracles and
understand what they are up against.
It's time to face reallity and maybe know where to go, when you
have the foundation needed to go there. You can't fly to the
moon with Ryan Air.
