The bag and the 1963 FA Cup final
How strange could it be to get devoted to Leicester City

THE CUNNING FOX, 26.08.2009

When we are in Leicester we always visit the Swan and Rushes pub in front of the game. A very friendly atmosphere and a great pre-match chat is always nice.

This time TCF and his company met a few City fans from London, who all either are from Leicester or have a relative that made them Leicester fans. But this time more exotic stories were told.

I told the guy opposite to me that I was from Norway and started to support Leicester after watching them on telly in a game against West Ham back in 1972. I got a bit of an interest in Leicester and after not getting the Liverpool bag i wanted and instead chose the Leicester bag, must have been the only one in Norway at the time, I was stuck.

This other fellow had been a Leicester fan since 1963 and the reason for his support was interesting. His family was from Manchester and Leicester played Manchester United in this final. He told me he was too young to go, and decided that he would rather follow the opponent than Man Utd in the future.

He lives in London, Wimbeldon area, is a devoted City fan and has been so since the early 60's. Fantastic to see a guy from Manchester, living in London, is a Leicester City season ticket holder and starts to support the club as a protest for not getting the chance to go to the 1963 FA Cup final. Just amazing.

There are some great stories out there.
