Holloway verdict
Was he really that bad ?

THE CUNNING FOX, 13.09.2009

Ian Holloway was back at Leicester, when his Blackpool visited Walkers Stadium yesterday. Holloway will for always be stamped with the historical fact that he was in charge when City for their first time in history was relegated to level three in English football.

Holloway is an excentric type, with a special approach, and his life in management has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride between greatness and failure.

Pearson took over from Holloway at Leicester and build a side on the group he got after Holloway. Holloway never really managed to get things on the right track at City, despite bringing in players such as Matt Oakley and Steve Howard. Both players are today very important for City's rise to the top.

Blackpool was unbeaten before their clash with City. And to be honest they gave City a hard battle. His work at Blackpool has been impressive, so far. The job he did at Bristol Rovers and Plymouth can also be regarded as success.

He came to City, getting the job after four changes of management in less than a year. He inherited a squad of players that had few ideas of the future after Kelly, Worthington, Allen and Megson.

City are of course on the right track at the moment, Holloway is doing a good job at Bloomfield Road and for me Holloway will probably be a Championship manager for a long time, while our club will again rise to Premier League level in a year or two.

Holloway, TCF will not regard you as a failure, despite taking City down. He has done well at other clubs, but he was with us in a period that would have been a struggle for most of the men working in management.
