Pearson still searching
?
Table position and points ok,
but have we missed out on a promotion run
THE CUNNING FOX,

Leicester City
has shown in the games away to Newcastle and Watford that they are
capable of winning against the best teams away from home.
First half against Newcastle and the fantastic performance in the
first half at Watford this evening shows what this team is capable
of.
The big question for Pearson is why can't the team manage to keep a
lead under pressure and stay calm. Richie Wellens had to leave the
field and Pearson's game plan couldn't continue. He has also a
unbalanced squad.
There are a number of questions to be asked, when you play Nicky
Adams in a central midfield position and keeps it going for a while
without doing the right decissions.
City played with Andy King, Matt Oakley and Richie Wellens in a
diamond with Paul Gallagher just behind Howard and Fryatt. This
looked like magic in the first half, but as soon as Wellens had to
leave the field everything was destroyed by Watford.
City have a number of quality players in their squad, but to see a
player like Tunchev on the bench, hurts so much that TCF would hope
for a change soon. There should be room for such a player in our
first team. The Bulgarian international is quality and not a player
to have on the bench.
Paul Gallagher was brought in for £ 1 million to score goals, so far
he has just had one chance to play up front and do just that. Today
he looked well just behind the forwards and his skills are on a very
high level.
There is also a problem that a young and very talented player like
Andy King is not being used more regularly and Dyer and N'Guessan
not performing at their highest level in every game.
Robbie Neilson and Bruno Berner has slowly progressed and hopes are
that both players can continue to do that and hopefully be a back
pair that is capable of helping City to keep their track on a
play-off position.
We have now lost, in my view, four points in two games, which is not
good enough if you want to be part of a promotion push. The fact
that City have played with such great enthusiasm and shown everyone
that they can be a handfull for every team, makes fans believe that
we should push even harder for a challange on the two top positions.
Let's hope that Pearson have a good game plan and a strategy behind
his system changes.
City should try to strengthen their team in the January transfer
window, two Birmingham players comes to mind, Marcus Bent and Damien
Johnson. This could also make it possible for a number of players to
leave, hopefully not Fryatt, who will be a target for clubs when the
window opens.
Milan Mandaric must not let things slide by selling off his best
players and see a possible profit. The profit of a promotion to the
Premier League is a much better way to earn your cash.
City have shown that they can tear most teams apart, but Pearson and
his boys looked like they had finished the game after 45 minutes. |
