Bruno Berner, just the right injection
Left back position controlled by the Swiss international

THE CUNNING FOX, 30.09.2009

City's start to this season has been impressive and a number of players have taken the new division with storm. One of them is Bruno Berner. Berner (31) joined City from Blackburn in September last year.

Berner has been capped 16 times by his country and the Swiss could again be in the frame for a new call up. Last season he had to battle with Joe Mattock for a regular place in the team and was not certain in the first 11.

Berner has played all 10 league games this season and shown what quality he posess, and the way Nigel Pearson has given him time to settle makes this a great adventure for both player and club.

Berner never became a hit at Blackburn after joining from FC Basel in 2007. Berner only played 2 league games while at Ewood Park and was given a free transfer by the club.

Berner joined Norwich on a trial, but was not given a contract proposal. Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa competed for Berner's signature but he finally agreed to join City on a three year deal.

Nigel Pearson must a pleased man to see the way Berner is playing now. He also sold Mattock for £1.5 million to WBA and no one has missed him at all.

The way a number of City players have performed in the first 10 games gives real hope. Players takes the level and builds confidence. We haven't seen such progression in a City team since Matt Elliott, Steve Guppy, Muzzy Izzet, Neil Lennon and Robbie Savage did the same, coming for lower  league clubs or reserve teams.

This shows how well Pearson makes his moves and hopefully will be able to lift City to a new level allready this season.
