Mancini, Taylor and
Levein
Former foxes in the
news
THE CUNNING FOX,
29.12.2009
Leicester City
was the only connection Roberto Mancini had to English football and
the Premier League before his appointment as Man City boss.
Mancini spent a short period at the club under former manager Peter
Taylor. His stay at Leicester became very short when he was given a
chance to take charge of Fiorentina back in Italy.
He has since leaving Leicester been a manager at Fiorentina, Lazio
and Inter and now at Man City.
Peter Taylor is linked with the vacant position at Notts County and
could again link up with Sven Goran Eriksson. Taylor assisted
Eriksson with England and worked under him with the U.21's.
Taylor has shown that he can work well with teams in the lower
leagues. He has promoted clubs such as Hull. Brighton. Gillingham
and Wycombe.
Craig Levein was last week appointed manager of Scotland aftrer a
brilliant period in charge of Dundee United. His spell at Leicester
City was a dark one.
He was restricted in his work at Leicester, and never really managed
to bring in the sort of players we needed to get this club flying
again. But he was the one signing Matty Fryatt and Iain Hume, so
something good came out of the Levein era.
We wish Roberto and Craig all the best in their new jobs and hope
that their time at Leicester have inspired them. |
