Paul Dickov in
Leicester City exit
Dickov leaves
Leicester for the 2nd time
THE CUNNING FOX,
01.02.2010
Paul Dickov
has left the buidling. The club and the player has agreed to an exit
that makes Dickov a free agent and able to find a new club without
any hurdles.
Paul Dickov is in a way very special after completing a 2nd period
at the club, after joining from Man City in front of last season and
helping City to a great promotion. This season he has not been much
involved and only played two games.
He spent five months on loan at Derby, but hardly a player that
Nigel Clough would build the future around. Dickov (37) played for
Leicester under the Bassett/Adams period after being signed from Man
City in 2002.
He experienced two relegations and a promotion durng his first spell
at the club, first going down in 01/02, and than promoted in 02-03
and a new relegation in 03-04.
He returned and made it two promotions with the one in 08-09 when he
contributed well and became a vital part of the sqaud that managed
to get City out of league 1.
Dickov has 10 caps for Scotland and 4 caps for the U.21. He started
his career at Arsenal and made a promising start, but Arsene Wenger
never saw the potential and sold him to Man City.
Dickov played 110 league games for City, 89 in his first period and
21 in his 2nd. He scored a total of 34 goals while at Leicester.
Dickov is one of very few players who have returned to the club for
a 2nd spell. Since the 70's only Eddie Kelly, Kevin MacDonald (loan),
Steve Guppy and Paul Dickov has done that.
Dickov will most certainly find a new club, he is still a fit player
and his experience can be "golden" for a team that needs the skills
of a player like Dickov. |
