Fighting to the end !
Play off ends in penalty shoot out nightmare

THE CUNNING FOX, 12.05.2010

Leicester fought well through a game that never really went our way, and in the end Yann Kermorgant and Martyn Waghorn both blow it with missed penalties in the final penalty shoot out

Despite a 1-0 home defeat at home to Cardiff, expectations were hight among fans and we all hoped for a good game down in the Welsh capitol.

It started badly when Cardiff took the lead, but before the first half had ended City were in the lead wth an own goal from Hudson and a goal from Matty Fryatt.

The partnership between Howard and Fryatt was used with great success. Fryatt back from his jaw injury and Howard returning after being suspended for the first play-off game.

City pushed for more and a header from Andy King made it 3-1 to City, but they were not able to hold on to their lead. Cardiff came back from a penalty, that we all have seen was not a penalty, and it was clear after 90 minutes that this would go to lengthening.

City managed to held on to the result, and penalties was no avoided. Howard, Solano and Berner scored, but Kermorgant and Waghorn missed and it was clear that Cardiff would go to the final.

The strange thing is that Blackpool will play the final at Wembley with an on loan forward from Leicester and their previous manager in charge for Blackpool. Holloway and Campbell could reach the Premier League, both of them regarded as failures down at the Walker Stadium.

Football is a strange game, and with Blackpool and Cardiff in the final it will again be a new club reaching the Premier League for the first time. Cardiff must be regarded as favourites in the final.

City's team
Weale (6) - Solano (5), Berner (7), Bruce (6), Hobbs (6) - Wellens (7), Gallagher (6), King (8), Dyer (5) - Fryatt (7), Howard (7) . Subs: Spearing, Waghorn, Kermorgant
